Training Description: Home visiting is a strategy to improve overall child health, support child development, positively impact parenting skills and can ultimately build on the parent's knowledge about the child which can result in improved interactions between terachers and children in the classroom. Research has shown that there are significant benefits to interacting with families and children directly in their home, impacting school readiness, parent's knowledge of child development, and parental isolation. During this interactive full-day training, participants will: Review the framework, purpose and benefits of home visits; Develop strategies to incorporate the Strengthening Families Protective Factors framework from center to home support children and families; Develop strategies to plan, facilitate and document a quality home visit; Learn how to develop and use policies, procedures and forms to guide quality home visits, and; Discuss Communication strategies to incorporate strength-based approach and motivational interviewing. This training fulfills the training requirements of standard 4.2.3 in Grow NJ Kids and also helps prepare childcare staff to meet standards 3.3.4 and 3.4.4.
